Women's History Month at JSC: live panel discussion from George Washington University
Women’s History Month at JSC was kicked off on March 8 when employees gathered in the Building 3 Collaboration Center to participate in the live panel discussion from George Washington University on NASA TV. Among those women featured on the panel were NASA Deputy Administrator Lori Garver and former astronaut and current Deputy Administrator of NOAA Kathryn Sullivan.
Following the panel discussion, Center Director Mike Coats addressed the crowd with his own reflections on the challenges that women have had in the past at JSC and the progress that has been made over the years. Coats then introduced Dr. Michele Perchonok whose talk “From Pet Food to Astronaut Food” chronicled her career progression from her earliest interests in science to becoming an Advanced Food Technology Scientist at JSC.
